November 2013 Primark opened a store in the city of Eindhoven. For GFK this was a reason to find out if this new store was a threat for the other retailers in Eindhoven. Based on the Mezuro mobility information the origin and number of shoppers was investigated before and some months after the opening of the new Primark store. It turned out that the new store attracted a significant number of extra day shoppers from the surrounding regions. The number of Belgian visitors increased with 16% and from Tilburg an additional 23% shoppers were counted. Conclusion: Primark has a magnetic effect.
